We know it’s a tough time for many of our members who might be stuck at home for an undetermined amount of time, and we want to help keep you involved with Washington Youth Soccer as much as possible until we’re able to get back out onto the pitch again.

So for our members who would like to participate, we’d like to introduce Washington Youth Soccer’s first foray into eSports with the Inaugural Washington State eCup. Two tournaments will be held on EA SPORTS FIFA 20, one on PlayStation 4 and one on Xbox One

As this is our first time doing anything like this, we aren’t requiring an entry fee or doing a hefty registration process. We just ask that you have patience with us throughout the process and give us as much feedback as possible so we can improve going forward. All a player needs to do to play is register at Battlefy and use the link for your console of choice. First place receives a $50 Amazon gift card, 2nd place receives a $25 Amazon gift card. Check out the rules below, and if you have any questions or believe something has been left out, please email Spenser Davis: spenserdavis@washingtonyouthsoccer.org.

Format

Day 1: Swiss Round

Players will compete in a number of Swiss rounds dependent on number of checked in players

    • 16 or Fewer Players: No Swiss Rounds, Move Directly to Knockouts
    • 17 – 32 Players: 5 Rounds
    • 33 – 64 Players: 6 Rounds
    • 65 – 128 Players: 7 Rounds
    • 129 – 256 Players: 8 Rounds
  • Swiss rounds may be played on Day 2 depending upon scheduling needs and will be communicated on the tournament page and via email.
  • Once a player reaches 2 losses during the Swiss stage, they will be automatically dropped by a tournament admin prior to the following round. All players are required to check their match score prior to the following round to ensure they are not dropped in cases where they should not be
  • Once Swiss rounds are over, Remaining Players with less than 2 losses will be entered into a Double Elimination bracket to play on Day 2.
  • Rankings after Swiss will be based on the following:
    • Tiebreaker 1: Opponents Match Win %
    • Tiebreaker 2: Head-to-Head
    • Tiebreaker 3: Best-of-1 Tiebreaker match

Day 2: Double Elimination Stage

  • In the case that any Swiss Rounds were played on Day 2, there will be a 1 hour break between the end of the Swiss Stage and the start of the Double Elimination Stage
  • Top 8 Players will be seeded into the Double Elimination Bracket based upon their ranking from the Swiss Standings.
  • All game play settings are the same as in the Swiss Rounds.

Rules

  • Competitors will need to add each other as friends on PSN/Xbox Live.
  • You must play your opponent through the Online Friendlies Mode, NOT FIFA Ultimate Team
    •  To do this go to Online -> Online Friendlies
    •  First player listed is in charge of starting the match, opponent should verify the settings.
  • All games will use these Online Friendlies settings:
      • Half Length: 6 Minutes
      • Controls: Any
      • Game Speed: Normal
      • Squad Type: 85 Overall

Players must check-in within 60 minutes of their match start time.

      • We recommend recording your matches by pressing “Share” at the beginning of each match.
      • Players are responsible to kickoff their match no more than 7 minutes from their match start time. Failure to do so will result in a forfeit.
      • If the match results in a draw, players will need to restart a new match with the “Golden Goal” rule. (First player to score, wins)
      • Winners are responsible for reporting their match results. Failure to do so will result in a match forfeit.

    Problems

    • If a player fails to play his/her scheduled match will result in an automatic forfeit.
    • Rescheduling your match will not be allowed.
    • Unfortunately, bad internet connections do exist, but if both players can play their match, you will need to finish your game.
    • Tampering with your internet connection to have an advantage in your match will result in a warning or disqualification.
    • If a player quits, exits or disconnects from a match regardless of the situation, it is the responsibility of the player from the opposite team to notify the admins for assistance to come up with a resolution.
    • Submitting your scores before the start of your match is not allowed. Doing so will result in a warning, match forfeit, or potential disqualification.
    • Cheating is NOT allowed nor is submitting a false match score. Doing so will result in a match forfeit and disqualification.
    • Photo or video evidence is required if you claim your opponent has broken any of the league rules. Failure to show any proof will result invalid.
